Terms of service
Last updated: 23 May 2026
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of afoda.co.uk, the AFODA booking platform, and the transport and delivery services arranged through it. The platform is operated by AFODA GROUPE LTD, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 16988176, with its registered office at 14 Maybury Road, London E13 8RZ, United Kingdom.
By creating an account, submitting a booking, or driving on the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Definitions
- Booking — a request submitted through the website or app for one of the services listed in clause 4.
- Customer — the individual or business that places a Booking.
- Driver — an independent contractor vetted by AFODA who carries out the Booking.
- Marketplace assignment — a Booking made available to eligible Drivers, first-claimed or top-rated wins.
- Manual assignment — a Booking assigned to a specific Driver by AFODA ops.
- Agreed price — the flat price set by AFODA after reviewing a Booking and confirmed with the Customer by phone before the job becomes active.
3. Account and eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract in the United Kingdom. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity carried out under your account. Provide accurate and up-to-date contact details — Bookings rely on phone and email for pricing and on-the-day coordination.
4. Services we arrange
AFODA arranges the following transport and delivery services across England and, where stated on the Booking, elsewhere in the United Kingdom:
- House moving — studios up to multi-bedroom homes, Luton and Sprinter vans, optional crews and packing materials.
- Vehicle transfer — trade-plate driving, flat-bed recovery and enclosed transport for cars.
- Motorcycle transfer — dedicated trailers with wheel chocks and soft tie-downs.
- Same-day courier delivery — point-to-point parcels and pallets across England.
- Courier collection — collection on your behalf from sellers, marketplaces and auctions.
AFODA acts as an intermediary that arranges the service. The transport itself is carried out by an independent Driver. AFODAremains responsible for the standards described in these terms and for the consumer rights you have under UK law.
5. How a Booking works
The lifecycle of a Booking is the same in every case:
- Submission. You submit the Booking on the website, providing addresses, contact details, dates, and a description of what is being moved.
- Review. Our ops team reviews the request and, after a phone call with you to clarify details, sets an Agreed price.
- Confirmation. Once you confirm the Agreed price, the Booking becomes active and a Driver is offered the job by Marketplace or Manual assignment.
- On the day. The Driver arrives within the agreed pickup window, completes the job and hands over proof of delivery or collection where applicable.
- Completion and payment. You pay the Driver directly on the day (see clause 6).
6. Pricing and payment
AFODA does not collect payment online. The website never asks for card details and AFODA never takes payment up front.
The Agreed price is set by AFODA ops after reviewing your Booking and confirmed with you by phone. It is a flat price — no surcharges are added on the day unless the scope of the job changes materially at your request (for example, additional items, additional addresses, or significant waiting time on site).
Payment is made directly to the Driver on the day, in cash or by card using the Driver’s own payment terminal. The Driver provides a receipt on request. Any tip is at your discretion and goes to the Driver in full.
7. Changes and cancellations
- More than 24 hours before the pickup window: free cancellation or rescheduling.
- Within 24 hours of the pickup window: cancellations and material changes are reviewed case by case. A reasonable fee may apply if the Driver is already in transit or has prepared specifically for the job.
- No-show by the Customer: if the Driver cannot reach you or access the pickup address during the agreed window, a no-show fee may apply.
- Cancellation by AFODA: we may cancel a Booking at any time on safety, legal or fraud grounds, or where the Booking description proves materially inaccurate. You will not be charged for a Booking we cancel for these reasons.
8. Your obligations as a Customer
- Provide accurate addresses, contact details, dates and a complete description of the items.
- Declare any fragile, high-value, oversized or heavy items in advance so the right vehicle and crew can be allocated.
- Ensure parking, lift access and any building restrictions are disclosed before the Booking is confirmed.
- Be present at pickup and delivery, or appoint a responsible adult to act on your behalf.
- Confirm that you have the legal right to move, send or take possession of the items.
- Pay the Agreed price to the Driver on completion of the job.
9. Items we do not transport
You must not book AFODA to move or deliver any of the following: illegal goods, controlled substances, firearms or ammunition, live animals (unless agreed in writing in advance), hazardous or flammable materials, perishable food without temperature control, human or animal remains, large quantities of cash, or items you do not lawfully own or hold the right to ship. We may refuse or abandon any Booking that turns out to involve prohibited items, and you remain liable for the Agreed price up to the point of refusal.
10. Drivers
Drivers are independent contractors, not employees of AFODA. They are vetted before joining the platform: identity (KYC), driving licence, vehicle documentation, goods-in-transit insurance and, where required, public liability insurance. AFODA may suspend or remove any Driver at any time, in particular following customer feedback, safety concerns or repeated late arrivals.
11. Insurance and liability
Every Booking carried out through AFODA is covered by goods-in-transit insurance up to the limit stated on the Booking confirmation. Public liability cover applies to incidents at the pickup or delivery address.
Cover does not apply to:
- items not declared at Booking time, where the declaration would have changed the Agreed price or the equipment used;
- damage caused by inadequate packaging supplied by the Customer;
- damage to items inherently fragile that the Customer chose to load without professional packing;
- delays caused by traffic, weather, third-party premises, or events outside our reasonable control.
AFODA’s aggregate liability for a Booking is limited to the Agreed price for that Booking, except where a higher limit is required by mandatory UK consumer law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015), which is not affected by these terms.
12. Claims and complaints
Inspect your items at handover and raise any visible damage or shortage directly with the Driver, who will note it on the proof of delivery. To open a claim or complaint, contact info@afoda.co.uk within 48 hours of completion, attaching photos, the Booking reference, and a description of the issue. We acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and aim to resolve them within 28 days. If you remain unhappy you may take the matter to an appropriate UK alternative dispute resolution provider or the courts.
13. Ratings, reviews and conduct
Customers and Drivers may rate each other after a job. Reviews must be honest, factual and not defamatory. AFODA may remove reviews that breach this rule, and may suspend accounts that engage in harassment, abuse, discrimination or repeated breaches of these terms.
14. Data and privacy
We process personal data to operate the Bookings, arrange Drivers, handle payments by Drivers, and comply with our legal obligations. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated to active account holders by email before they take effect.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising out of or in connection with them fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
